Workshop Report
Prof. S.C. Vaidya, Chairman, UBS introduced the gathering about NFCG. The NFCG has been set up by the Ministry of Company Affairs, Government of India, in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with the goal to promote better corporate governance practices. Its vision is to be catalyst in making India the best in corporate governance practices. The Foundation provides accreditation to premier management institutes based on their meeting the stringent eligibility criteria designed along with continuing adherence to the same. Presently there are twelve management institutes which have been accredited as NCCG.
In his address Prof. Vaidya stressed upon three important issues viz.,
- How corporate governance is more important than why corporate governance
- Corporate governance is all about doing good
- The challenge is doing from within, and not doing by law
