The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has set up the National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG). The vision of NFCG is to be a Catalyst in making India the best in Corporate Governance Practices. NFCG provides a platform for quality discussions and debates amongst academicians, policy makers, professionals and corporate leaders through workshops, conferences, meetings and seminars.

NFCG has constituted a Core Group on Corporate Governance Norms for Institutional Investors to bring out specific Corporate Governance Norms for Institutional Investors. The Core Group comprise of Mr C Achuthan (Chairperson), Dr Prakash G Apte, Mr Raman Sidhu, Mr Ajeet Prasad, Mr N S Kannan, Mr Keki M Mistry (Members) and Dr Jinesh N Panchali (Invitee). The Core Group, after deliberations, has formulated a draft Concept Paper on 'Internal Governance Norms for Institutional Investors in India'.

These non-binding principles are recommendatory in nature and are intended to be offered to a wide spectrum of corporations in the public and private sectors and will have applicability, when adopted, to corporations across a range of industries and business sectors.

These Principles are now being made available in the public domain for comments before review and final release by the NFCG
